THE 37TH ANNUAL MARCO ISLAND SHELL CLUB SHELL SHOW

March 9, 10, 11, 2017 

 

The Marco Island Shell Club 37th Annual Shell Show and Sale was a great success, thanks to the people who supported the show by attending, viewing the exhibits, and making purchases in the Gift Shop.  Proceeds benefit the Club's scholarships and grants program. THANK YOU TO ALL!

JUDGES:  Judges for  the  Scientific category were Alan Gettleman from Merritt Island, Florida, and  John Chesler from Plantation, Florida; judges for the Artistic category were Sue Hobbs and Phil Dietz, both from Cape May, New Jersey.   • Clausen Properties/Kimberly Porter --The Best Non-Floral Trophy for the best exhibit in the non-floral categories, Hobbyist Class
  • Iberia Bank --The Hobbyist Trophy for the best exhibit in the Artistic Division, Hobbyist Class
  • Valerie Maerker--The Mary C. and John B. Maerker Plaque for the best exhibit in the Artistic Division, non-professional categories, by an active member of the Marco Island Shell Club
  • Eddy Ciaramello and Joy Burdick--Mary Ciaramello Trophy - for the best single flower or single stem of blossoms in the Hobbyist Class
  • Marco Island Center for the Arts--The Top Artistic Novice Trophy for the best artistic  exhibit in the Novice Class.

SCIENTIFIC DIVISION

  • The Top Novice Scientific Trophy for the best exhibit in the Scientific Division, Novice Class, by an active member of the Marco Island Shell Club 
  • Best Miniature Shell(s) Trophy -- Adult shells 1/2 inch or less - any source.  It may be single or a collection
  • Outstanding Self-Collected Marco Island Shell Collection Trophy for the best collection of self-collected Marco Island shells
  • People's Choice - awarded to the exhibit which receives the highest number of votes from on-site balloting by Shell Show attendees
  • Top Junior Exhibit Award

ARTISTIC DIVISION

  • The Top Artistic Novice Trophy for the best exhibit in the Artistic Division, Novice Class
  • The Best Non-Floral Trophy for the best exhibit in the non-floral categories, Hobbyist Class
  • The Shell Show Committee Trophy for the best exhibit in the non-floral categories, Professional Class
  • Best Single Sailor's Valentine in the Professional Class
  • Best Double Sailor's Valentine in the Professional Class
  • People's Choice - awarded to the exhibit which receives the highest number of votes from on-site balloting by Shell Show attendees
  • Top Junior Shell Artist Award

Blue, red, and white ribbons were presented for first, second, and third places in each category. Each judge may present one Green Ribbon for Special Merit (“Judges' Ribbons”) to an exhibit that the judge believes deserves extra recognition.
